Summary

Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property by rounding in behavioral health units and the psychiatric emergency department, engaging patients, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment while working in collaboration with clinical teams.

Qualifications
  • Required:

    HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
  • 2 years of experience working in a Behavioral Health setting, corrections or healthcare facility, or other related experience.
  • Training in WELLE or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to manage stressful situations, problem‑solve quickly, and react appropriately during psychiatric emergencies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Preferred:
    Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, or another related field from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred:
    Experience working as a security guard.
  • Preferred:
    Experience as a trainer or educator, particularly on topics regarding safety and de‑escalation.
