Professional Land Surveyor

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural/engineering/environmental consulting firm seeks a Professional Land Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting and applying standard surveying techniques in the field and office to plan, organize, and execute land surveying projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive instructions on specific assignments, objectives, and complex features
  • Perform a variety of in‑office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects obtained by the company
  • Have a broad understanding and experience operating surveying equipment, such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static Observations
  • Accurately calculate and record field data
  • Review job specifications and plan fieldwork methods and costs
  • Apply standard scientific/engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment to adapt standard methods in the field and office
  • Review and download field data
  • Prepare field notes and draw sketches of existing site conditions
  • Prepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with the supervisor on a daily basis
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentation
  • Draft and edit surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
  • Professional Land Surveyor license required (State of NJ)
  • Must have substantial survey experience and strong knowledge of survey calculations, techniques, and procedures
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to stand, climb, and walk continuously during an 8‑hour period
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in a varying climate (heat and cold, etc.)
  • Must have good computer skills and be able to learn survey‑related software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Salary

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
