Senior Environmental Engineer

Dewberry is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for our Parsippany, NJ office. This senior professional will perform a variety of environmental tasks in support of environmental remediation projects, including developing long‑range remedial solutions and strategies to reduce environmental risk. Projects are primarily located in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania; the position includes support to other Dewberry offices in the U.S.

The Senior Professional must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently, while supporting a team that includes engineers, scientists, and field personnel. The work required is diverse and ranges from coordination of field inspection and soil/groundwater sampling to technical work that requires strong communication skills and knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Adobe Acrobat. Current OSHA 40‑hour certification and/or other applicable certification preferred.

New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) required.

Responsibilities
  • Work with staff and management team to develop strategic direction for remediation and implementation of environmental‑related projects and/or litigation support.
  • Negotiations with regulatory agencies and management of compliance with applicable orders, agency directives, and permits.
  • Assign tasks to engineers, scientists, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Interacts with the client in the field, at meetings, and on conference calls.
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of work.
  • Prepares and manages scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Leads and assists with proposals.
  • Manages and meets budgets.
  • Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Skills & Experience
  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.
  • PE license is required.
  • New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP)
  • OSHA 40‑hour certification with a current 8‑hour annual refresher course certification.
  • Working knowledge of NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and/or PADEP requirements a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, subconsultants, and county/agency review staff.
  • Composes technical reports, memoranda, and other written communication.
  • Handles multiple concurrent projects.
  • Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office software.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $157,150 to $202,050 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NJ only.
