CNC​/EDM Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

The CNC Machine Operator will work at the Parsippany, NJ Metem a GE Power business manufacturing plant and operate a variety of production equipment and tooling. You will also have ownership of safety, compliance, quality, and productivity.

• Set‑up and operate CNC machines to perform 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining operations.
• Lift workpiece onto table manually or with material handling equipment and position it securely.
• Select and install tooling, place tools in automatic tool changer as specified.
• Record production inspection results in the computer data system.
• Observe numerical displays, compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speed; check program at start of each shift.
• Record and inspect key dimensions for conformance to specifications using a micrometer and precision dial gauges.
• Troubleshoot production problems and report unusual problems or conditions to supervisor.
• Deburr all pieces according to specifications and good machining practice.
• Maintain tools and measuring instruments supplied by company.
• Promote a safe machine operation and material handling culture.

• High School Diploma / GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in EDM/CNC or tooling production or equivalent in a manufacturing environment.

• 3rd Shift: (10pm-6am).
• A background in machine operation, assembly, or equipment maintenance.
• CNC/EDM operator experience.
• Comfortable working with tools and following manufacturing work instructions.
• Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekend shift.
• Willingness to wear all required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, safety shoes).
• Required U.S. status and ability to qualify for U.S. export‑controlled information (proof of status before employment).

• Proficient shop math skills.
• Basic mechanical skills.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self‑motivation.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a manufacturing shop.
• Strong communication and follow‑up skills.
• Ability to work with computerized shop floor tools.
• Strong team player and flexible willingness to move to different areas.

The pay for this position is $27.50/hr. to $30.50/hr. plus 10% shift differential. This posting is expected to remain open until a suitable candidate is identified.
