Director, External Quality Strategy and Operations
Gilead Sciences is seeking a senior leader to drive the development and implementation of standardized communication, training, and rollout of Gilead’s Quality standards, requirements, systems, and tools across our global contract organization network.
Job DescriptionLead a team of Quality Professionals to develop strategy and ensure consistent application of Gilead’s quality standards across all external partners.
Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional business and quality process mapping, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and drive Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives across PDM External Quality teams.
- Utilize business process management tools and training in a strategic capacity.
- Manage quality agreements and coordinate quarterly management review metrics collection, including annual product quality reviews.
- Define and align requirements and processes for contract organization quality event management, including deviation, investigation, corrective and preventive action, and change control.
- Roll out Gilead’s Partner Collaboration Quality System module to the global contract organization network.
- Represent Gilead’s Quality Transformation initiatives and partner with leaders in PDM External Quality and Global Quality to achieve business objectives.
- Evaluate options and trade‑offs, leveraging available resources to deliver the greatest positive impact on business.
- Lead cross‑functional business and quality process mapping and OpEx initiatives, facilitating SME input and designing practical end‑to‑end processes.
- Analyze situations and data to identify, resolve problems, and make recommendations for high‑impact processes.
- Interface with the PDM Global Quality Leadership Team to drive meaningful process improvements.
- Utilize analytical, communication, and influencing skills to deliver continuous improvements.
- B.S. in life sciences or relevant business area with 12+ years of post‑graduation experience in pharmaceuticals, biosciences, or a related industry, OR M.S. with 10+ years, OR Ph.D. with 8+ years.
- Experience leading cross‑functional biopharma strategic initiatives.
- Experience with business process mapping and tools such as Visio.
- Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of industry quality and compliance trends.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex situations.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
