ADMINISTRATIVE SELECTION PROCESSES IN JORDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Jordan School District has a process for assistant principals to apply and be considered for a principalship.
CURRENT ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL APPLICATION PROCESS FOR A PRINCIPALSHIPCurrent JSD administrators are eligible for principal assignment consideration at any time, however, Cabinet will conduct an optional interest interview every four years for current administrators in the district. Here is how to apply:
- Annual applications are opened in August.
- Selecting a preference for a principal assignment in an elementary, middle, high, special education, or District Office area is required.
Administrative Pool Applicants – must:
1) completed 5 years of experience in education, AND
2) will hold a current administrative license/endorsement by August 1, then complete step 1 below.
You may be considered for an interview after completing an administrative application and meeting all applicant screening requirements.
Mark that you are interested in the “Admin Pool”. The administrator application will remain active throughout the entire school year.
- Provide the following required 3 references, which must meet the following criteria:
- 2 nd Administrator with whom you have worked with in the last 5 years.
- A professional reference with whom you have worked with in the last 5 years.
Please note:
Your application will not be processed until all 3 required references are completed and returned.
All your references will receive an email from requesting they complete our Administrative Reference Form on your behalf. It is important you personally notify them to complete and submit the Administrative Refence Form ASAP.
- Prepare a video, no longer than 3-minutes describing how your:
1) skills,
2) knowledge, and
3) experience make you the best administrative candidate. Include a link in your application to a Google drive or You Tube video, and verify your link is viewable to anyone who has the link. You may need to adjust the share settings on your video. - Following STEP 1 of the application process, applicants will receive an email notification indicating whether or not the applicant will move to STEP 2 of the administrative pool application process. Applicants not moving to STEP 2 may reapply during the next school year. See details of STEP 2 below.
STEP 2:
- Administrative Pool applicants who receive an email notification indicating the applicant is moving forward to STEP 2, will be invited to a half day interview in November, January, March or May. This is a mandatory,
in person interview with the Administrative Cabinet. These interviews will be held on a Monday or Friday to accommodate travel plans for any out of state applicants. - Current full-time, paid Jordan School District administrative interns will enter the Administrative Pool application process at this step and will be required to participate in a complete STEP 2 interview in November.
Following STEP 2 of the application process, applicants will receive an email notification indicating whether or not they are accepted into the Administrative Pool. Those applicants who receive an acceptance notification may be invited to participate in STEP 3, at any time while in the pool. Accepted applicants will remain in the Administrative Pool for two-years and then must reapply.
STEP 3:
Administrative Pool applicants may be scheduled for a 20-minute situational presentation based on a specific topic determined by the Administrative Cabinet. At the discretion of the Administrative Cabinet, STEP 3 may be completed in person or virtually.
Following STEP 3 of the application process, accepted applicants will remain in the Administrative Pool for two-years and then must reapply.
ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNSHIPSJordan School District also offers full-time paid administrative internships. These internships are for educators currently enrolled or who have recently completed a university administrative and/or leadership program. These positions are:
