Overview
Position Overview:
Prepares all products for shipment and minimizes the chance of transit damage by performing the following duties.
- Read and interpret a tape measure within 1/16th of an inch.
- Use a saw or shear to cut wood to size.
- Retrieve and replenish necessary materials and parts to ensure organized production.
- Operate a forklift and/or crane.
- Operate automatic nail and staple guns.
- Proficient in wrapping products by hand or with an automatic wrapping machine.
- Operate shipping computer(s) and related software.
- Build pallets to secure products during shipment.
- Other duties may be assigned.
High school education preferred. At least one year of shipping experience is preferred.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
OtherSkills And Abilities
Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends as required by union contract. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
