Overview
Day & Zimmermann, a trusted provider of ammunition to the U.S. Military, is recruiting a full‑time Water Treatment Technician to support safe and high‑quality water operations at our munitions plants.
Responsibilities- Operate water treatment systems independently to maintain water quality for uninterrupted operations.
- Collect and analyze water samples, adjust chemical balances, and prepare detailed reports for management.
- Plan and execute the removal and replenishment of Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain an organized workspace, manage inventory efficiently, and ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety procedures.
- Monitor containment dikes and pits to identify risks for environmental spills and implement preventive measures.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s in environmental science preferred. - Minimum of one year of experience in the environmental field.
- Ability to obtain HAZWOPER certification within one year of employment.
- Skills:
independent work, troubleshooting, knowledge of drawing schematics and machinery, and experience processing explosive‑contaminated water.
- Visual acuity (e.g., for data preparation, document transcription, computer use).
- Balancing, stooping, reaching, lifting over 15 lbs, walking, repetitive motion.
- Kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, climbing.
- Hearing, talking, concentration, and ability to work in extreme environmental conditions.
- Capacity to read, write, and express complex documents in English.
- Ability to wear protective equipment such as masks, respirators, or bulletproof vests as required.
Competitive salary within the $42,560 – $63,840 range, comprehensive medical/vision/rx coverage, dental, life/AD&D/disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, unpaid maternity and parental leave (up to 12 weeks), family leave, paid time off, voluntary benefits and discount programs including pet insurance.
