Sr Technical Program Manager - cryo hardware & electronics, AWS Center for Quantum Computing

Job  | Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.

The AWS Center for Quantum Computing is a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, all working to develop quantum computing technology capable of delivering value to customers. Our cryogenic hardware integration & signals teams are innovating to develop next generation hardware - from the chip package to the room temperature control electronics. We are looking for a senior technical program manager to coordinate our internal/external R&D efforts.

You will work with the management and technical leads from our cryogenic hardware integration & signals teams to plan, execute, and track a continuous stream of development activities. You will develop and maintain detailed multi-project schedules (from prototypes to production), identify resource constraints and conflicts, and provide leadership with the data to make informed and optimized decisions. This role will gather and assess data (inputs and outputs) to push our teams to run efficiently, partner with other TPMs, and work across team boundaries and project lines to identify and unblock resource conflicts.

You will also support the definition of technical project management standards across the Center of Quantum Computing and contribute to shaping practices across the organization, including improving our general lifecycle approach for projects and increasing visibility of project progress to other teams and senior leadership. Familiarity with system engineering topics that intersect with technical management, such as quantitative risk management, reviews, and requirements management is highly desirable.

Key

job responsibilities
  • Produce and maintain detailed plans and schedules for our cryogenic hardware and signals R&D activities (including chip cool down planning). Identify and forecast resource constraints, opportunities and conflicts to drive operational decisions. Work across team boundaries to ensure stakeholders are aware of risks/opportunities and timelines. Identify operational gaps and generate recommendations and mechanisms to improve operational efficiency.
  • Work with stakeholders to define mechanisms that optimize the interface points to cryogenic hardware & signals teams.
  • Support leadership by providing programmatic support as required towards the development of any new fab facilities, onboarding or new equipment, and sourcing materials to run our operation.
  • Support/lead the development of requirement documents and statements of work for external contracts (COTS and R&D). Manage these external contracts.
  • Identify opportunities and advocate for areas where in-house developed software or AI applications can streamline our internal hardware workflows. Support the internal roll‑out and adoption of these tools.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be either a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be able to obtain a U.S. export license. If you are unsure if you meet these requirements, please apply and Amazon will review your application for eligibility.
