Research Associate I - SOM
Assists with and/or coordinates portions of research projects. Works under general supervision. Final review required for each phase of assignment.
The Research Associate will assist with and coordinate portions of research projects for the Health System Science (HSS) department within the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in collaboration with study Research Coordinators and under the supervision of the Director of HSS Research Operations. The HSS department mission includes improving population health and health care through systems transformation and redesign;
delivering an innovative curriculum in community and population health, health care and social systems, quality and safety, and research methods to inform evidence-based clinical practice; and supporting a randomized controlled trial to test telephone-based care coordination through 211 LA to increase referral to and receipt of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)-related services for children ages 0-11 years and improve parent and child wellbeing outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collect project data through interviews, chart review, or other methods.
- Set up tracking tools and assist in developing forms and document procedures.
- Monitor and track the study over time and provide follow-up as needed.
- Summarize data for progress reports.
- Orient and provide training to team members or clinical staff on specific project tasks.
- May work with monitors at clinical sites for clinical trial work.
- Adhere to compliance, privacy, confidentiality requirements and standards.
- Adhere to GCP and compliance regulations for clinical trials.
- Review own work to ensure data quality.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of KP systems and databases.
- Identify study issues and collaborate with team members to develop and implement solutions.
- Serve as a member on department or study-related committees.
- Assist with tracking information for invoices.
Bachelor’s degree.
Additional Requirements- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Team-focused, detailed and goal-driven with professional oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Experience with interviewing (by phone and/or in-person) and medical chart review.
- Minimum one year of experience in public health, healthcare administration, epidemiology, or healthcare-related field.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to study populations (e.g., Spanish, Tagalog).
- Experience working with, or demonstrated familiarity with, the communities served by the studies.
- Bilingual in written and spoken Spanish is required.
