- Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height).
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms for examination.
- Drape patients and position instruments and equipment.
- Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Maintain inventory and order medical supplies.
- Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Enter data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
- Assist doctors with charting; chart auditing; CPT and ICD-9 review.
- Perform venipunctures, EKGs, vital signs, blood draws, and injections.
- Prep patients for examination and assist during minor office procedures.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, filing).
- Medical Assistant experience.
- CPT I certification.
- Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.
- Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.
Assignment communication will be handled by the Medical Assistant Float Pool Manager. Assignments will be shared the night before in the event of callouts; if no callouts occur, assignments will be communicated the morning of.
Employees will initially be scheduled into a designated float pool department in Makeshift (e.g., “Region 2 Float Pool”). Once assigned, they will be moved into their specific clinic for the day.
In the absence of callouts, float pool employees will default to the busiest center in their region.
Employees will be compensated for any commute time that exceeds their normal travel to their designated home center. These commute adjustments must be reported daily in Time and Attendance and will be reflected in payroll.
Working Conditions- Center-based; daily travel within assigned region locations required.
- Requires working in a clinical setting. Moderate noise level and potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
- Ability to stand and sit for hours, some bending and stooping, manual dexterity, and lift up to 50 lbs.
