Description
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA‑affiliated research institute. These one‑to‑three‑year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Research focus: geologic interpretation of data returned by Mars orbiter and lander/rover missions. Areas include geology, geomorphology, rock distribution, landscape development of landing sites; physical characteristics of the surface from remotely sensed data; selection of landing sites for Mars landers and rovers under development; geologic setting of layered sedimentary deposits; tectonics of structural features, regions and provinces. Research supports the current Mars Exploration program in selecting landing sites and in understanding surface–remote‑sensing data relationships.
