Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. invites you to apply for the Cardiometabolic Account Specialist (CAS) role in the Pasadena / Glendale, CA territory. This position is responsible for the launch of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product and will work closely with healthcare professionals to support patients with familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS).
POSITIONThe Cardiometabolic Account Specialist (CAS) is a field‑based role responsible for the launch of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product within the assigned territory and for building deep knowledge of the healthcare market and the FCS community, including key customers and accounts that treat cardiovascular and lipid–related diseases.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Build and maintain knowledge of customer objectives and provide tailored solutions to improve patient outcomes.
- Educate healthcare professionals (HCPs) and office staff to raise awareness of FCS, diagnostic pathways and urgent treatment.
- Provide positive prescribing experiences through value‑added resources and patient support programs.
- Represent Ionis at conferences, congresses and scientific meetings to educate HCPs on FCS.
- Gather insights to profile accounts and inform field leadership and marketing of product strategy.
- Understand local referral networks, including primary, secondary and referral patterns for FCS patients.
- Identify and document potential HCPs treating FCS patients to inform commercial strategy.
- Develop and execute customer‑focused territory strategic account plans to maximize business opportunities.
- Build insight‑driven tactics based on brand requirements and anticipated needs of hospital, office‑based endocrinologists, cardiologists and other sub‑specialties.
- Adjust strategies to meet business goals in the assigned region through strategic insight.
- Develop strategic account plans with field and brand leadership to engage accounts appropriately.
- Participate in field meetings and training programs to understand brand messaging, FCS disease state and customer engagement tactics.
- Certify on approved label, compliance training, and all relevant customer engagement policies.
- Learn and adhere to Ionis mission, vision, policies, and the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Partner with cross‑functional teammates to address unique customer needs and deliver a compliant, high‑quality patient experience.
- Share learnings with field team members and leadership to improve overall customer strategy.
- Leverage technology to engage customers through compliant, multi‑channel interactions.
- Partner on accounts that treat patients seen by multiple specialties across territories.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with a focus on new product launches, account‑based selling, HCP and IDN engagement, and cross‑functional field team coordination.
- Prior experience independently managing a sales territory.
- Background in cardiology, endocrinology and related specialties that treat FCS patients.
- Familiarity with the FCS community and ability to build relationships with key opinion leaders and major accounts.
- Ability to analyze market data, develop territory strategies and navigate complex accounts.
- Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to patient needs.
