Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising the performance and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  • Daily manage labor (i.e., expected live) and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Smile and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, easy, flexible and friendly service, creating a positive shopping experience for customers.
  • Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems; utilize ACIS.
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
  • Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules that provide extraordinary customer service at all times, with schedules updated every other week.
  • Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise follows policies and guidelines.
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and record/report all incidents per Food Lion procedures.
  • Monitor shrink, ensuring inventory is accounted for; coach associates to recognize and prevent losses.
  • Ensure that advertising and sales‑promotion materials applicable to the Deli Bakery HMS are properly utilized.
  • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Maintain a neat, well‑groomed appearance; comply with the dress code and personal appearance guidelines.
  • Successfully complete Computer‑Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
  • Meet all physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.
  • Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager," or have the ability to attend company‑provided training and achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation.
Physical Requirements
  • Use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
  • Push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack.
  • Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion.
  • Stand 100% of the time with frequent short‑distance walking.
  • Handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, including household cleaners.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Reach and grasp frequently at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
  • Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
  • Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
  • Have sufficient visual ability to check invoices and other written documents.

Salary range: $17.40 – $26.10 hourly.
