As a Y Head Swim Coach, you will assist with recruiting, hiring, training, supervision, administration, and deck coaching for the competitive swimming program. You will lead Swim Team Coaches to train and supervise swimmers using a competitive philosophy. You will be responsible for ensuring that Swim Team Coaches conduct safe, effective team practices and swim meet warm-up sessions. You will engage with swimmers during practice, events, and functions.
You will be supported in your work as a part of the leading mission-driven organization for strengthening community, and the area’s largest provider of swim lessons. The Y Head Swim Coach is a positive role model for youth members at the Y. You ll contribute to the Y and to the community by enhancing the well-being and safety of all.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, administer, and provide deck coaching for the competitive swimming program.
- Lead Swim Team Coaches to train and supervise swimmers using a competitive philosophy.
- Ensure that Swim Team Coaches conduct safe, effective team practices and swim meet warm-up sessions.
- Engage with swimmers during practice, events, and functions.
- A love of swimming and of helping youth and adults learn
- At least 3 year of prior experience in competitive swim coaching
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
- A willingness to obtain CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, Oxygen, and related coaching certifications depending on levels, paid for by the Y
- The ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment.
Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
