The Excavator operator will assist with all drainage/retaining wall activities and all excavations throughout our project.
Essential Functions- Equipment operation under the direction of the supervisor
- Bench and secure all excavations during the operation
- Read cut stakes and grade elevations
- Recognize hazardous conditions and report to the supervisor
- Dig around and assist in exposing live utilities
- Work day, night, and weekends as required
- While operating equipment, communicate with others using verbal and non‑verbal hand signals
- Perform other labor‑related duties as assigned by the supervisor
- 3 plus years of excavation experience on heavy highway road construction projects
- Drainage experience preferred (installation of box, pipe, structures, waterline, sanitary sewer, and/or trench box)
- Ability to bench and secure all excavations during operation
- Reliable transportation
- Physical ability to perform assigned labor‑related tasks (climbing ladders, climbing in and out of ditches)
- Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- General labor skills
- Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.)
