Job Overview

Join to apply for the EMT role at Acadian Air Med in Webster / Pasadena, TX. Part‑time or full‑time positions are available within Acadian Ambulance (Non‑Exempt).

Job Summary

Provide appropriate, efficient and timely pre‑hospital basic life support care and transportation of the sick and injured in accordance with local, state, national and Acadian Ambulance standards of practice.

Equipment
  • Ambulance, stretcher, folding stretcher, scoop stretcher, long/short spine boards, KED, spinal immobilisation equipment.
  • Radios, computerised communications, splinting devices, suction devices, bandaging materials, oxygen bottles and tubing.
  • Basic airway management devices, IV fluid therapy equipment, fire extinguisher, extrication devices, mechanical tools, BP cuff, stethoscope, patient restraints, traction devices, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness/injury and assist other medical personnel.
  • Administer prompt and efficient basic life support care within licence limits and protocols during transport.
  • Provide careful handling of the patient to & from the ambulance.
  • Transport patient safely and efficiently to the medical facility.
  • Transfer patient and care information to receiving personnel.
  • Document patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports and other required forms.
  • Conduct unit inventory and equipment testing; keep equipment present, clean, and working.
  • Upon completion of transport, restore ambulance and equipment to service.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the ambulance’s basic life support equipment.
  • Report repairs to maintenance and supervisors.
  • Use basic extrication tools to gain access to the patient when needed.
  • Control surroundings to minimise danger and manage bystander actions.
  • Operate/drive the ambulance safely, following driving guidelines.
  • Follow FCC regulations when communicating via electronic equipment.
  • Attend mandatory meetings; complete assigned station and ambulance duties.
  • Order supplies and equipment from Central Supply; wash, wax, interior and exterior cleaning.
  • Complete required reports and logs; provide information to ambulance and supervisory personnel.
  • Precept EMT‑Basic students as directed.
  • Meet all job qualifications and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Physical Demands

    Musculoskeletal activities include standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, carrying patients and equipment, and lifting patients onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. Tasks may involve hazardous locations, chemical exposure, and extreme temperatures.

    Work Environment

    Hazardous material calls, electrical emergencies, vehicular accidents, outdoor environments, extreme weather, heavy equipment use, etc.

    Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • National and/or State certification as an EMT.
    • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
    • Valid state‑issued driver’s license (e.g., Louisiana Class “D”).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of company protocols, procedures and safety policies.
    • Ability to drive large vehicles under normal and adverse conditions.
