Operations Manager
Overview
Regional Manager - US Northeast at Bureau Veritas North America. Bureau Veritas is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services. This position is responsible for ensuring equal opportunity in employment and for managing operations within the region.
Responsibilities- Represents the policies, ethics, and culture of the company in a leadership role.
- Sets and executes strategic direction for the region, including identification and oversight of growth projects.
- Includes hiring, terminations, and other personnel actions.
- Closely monitors financial performance and achieves or exceeds budgeted requirements.
- Serves as the management representative for the Company for the respective region.
- Provides customer service, troubleshooting, problem solving, and marketing.
- Responsible for profit and loss of the divisions within the region managed.
- Responsible for client marketing and development.
- Identifies and develops new business opportunities.
- Provide leadership and direction.
- Report back to Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Laboratories on key operational, technical, and developmental issues within the region.
- Develops strong relationships with customers, both regionally based and in central coordination.
- Responsible for financial performance of the region including general cost control, meeting/exceeding budgets, and collections.
- Ensures all divisions have adequate resources to safely perform all aspects of work required.
- Maintains Corporate Policy & Procedure at regional level.
- Provides employee motivation and champions the BMS system.
- Disseminates Corporate Level information to the divisions within the region.
- Understands customer requirements and organizes office procedures, schedules and staffing to provide for meeting/exceeding same.
- Fosters customer confidence in the Company's work.
- Supports the ISO certificate(s) and ensures that divisions have the resources to implement.
- Reviews local operations for all aspects of the continuous improvement process.
- Handles all disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner and maintains open communication with the HR department.
- Represents the Company by appearance and conduct. Behaves ethically at all times.
- Ensures business practices meet or exceed company policy and industry standards.
- Ensures compliance in all areas.
- Reads, understands, and enforces the company BMS and Safety policies.
- Other duties as may be assigned by senior management.
Education and/or experience: High school diploma or GED, and normally more than five years inspection-related experience. Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and related governmental regulations. A college degree is not required, but advanced formal education and/or management training is desirable.
Knowledge and skills: Broad experience in inspection-related business and in-depth understanding of the business operation and customer base. Understanding and experience of good business management practices, including finance, strategy, HR, sales, and marketing. Prior second-tier management experience (such as Division or Country Manager) is essential.
Language and mathematical skills: Ability to read, interpret and implement safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers and/or employees. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees. Capable of performing all calculations required for management and operations of the inspection business, and reading, understanding and analyzing financial statements.
Reasoning and other skills: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to complex situations, follow written or oral instructions, and handle problems involving several concrete variables. Above-average interpersonal and leadership skills. Computer literacy (MS Office) and email.
Certificates, licenses, registrations: Valid driver’s license is required.
