Kelly Engineering is seeking a Machinist (Manual Lathes) to join one of our leading clients in precision manufacturing at their Nederland, TX location.

• Strong background in machining, with a focus on producing high-quality, precision parts using manual lathes.
• Minimum of 3 years of industry experience and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual lathes to produce precision parts according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Perform machining tasks such as turning, facing, threading, boring, and knurling to meet tight tolerances.
• Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate part production.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify compliance with specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on manual lathes to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
• Collaborate with team members, including engineers and quality control, to ensure production goals are met.
• Document work processes and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience as a Manual Machinist, with a focus on manual lathes in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating manual lathes to produce precision components.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Expertise in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
• Knowledge of machining techniques, material properties, and tool selection.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Basic understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry, for machining calculations.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Experience with other manual machining equipment (e.g., milling machines, grinders) is a plus.
• Familiarity with a variety of materials, including steel, aluminum, and alloys.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
