Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit (RN) to deliver high‑quality, efficient care for patients in our ICU. As part of our collaborative team, you will support each other while ensuring exceptional patient outcomes.

Position Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
  • Meet the Standards of Practice for the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Participate in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Respond to Code Blue and implement life‑saving measures per ACLS protocol.
  • Interpret EKG rhythm strips and evaluate 12‑lead EKG.
  • Monitor and titrate IV vasoactive, antiarrhythmic and other specialized drugs per physician order.
  • Assess patients continuously based on acuity.
  • Assist physicians with procedures such as thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and venous access devices.
  • Assume responsibility for charging the unit as needed.
  • Perform patient assessment with telemetry monitoring and/or continuous pulse oximetry.
  • Maintain a patient‑friendly atmosphere and clean nursing unit environment.
  • Draw blood from arterial lines, CVP, and other invasive lines.
  • Answer call lights, perform hourly rounding, and document via initials.
  • Maintain the physical appearance of the unit, including POU, storage area, and lounge.
  • Scan supplies from the POU area.
  • Ensure Through‑Put Plan enforcement and adherence.
  • Scan patient armbands and administer medications via e‑MAR.
  • Enter orders via Order Management in computer and follow CPOE orders.
  • Ensure core measure patients are identified and protocols followed.
  • Maintain patient safety goals and monitor invasive pressures.
  • Accompany and monitor patients during transfers to other departments or for procedures.
  • Assist in inter‑facility transfers.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year ICU experience required.
  • Current Texas or compact state licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS certification within six months of hire.
  • CCRN certification within two years of hire preferred.
  • NIHSS certification within three months of hire; if already certified, maintain every two years.
  • Eight hours of acute stroke education annually.
