Duties
Responsible for general animal welfare and the proper confinement and disposition of animals in the Shelter. Perform other related duties as necessary. Work under minimal supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Prepare food and water for shelter animals and distribute accordingly. Receive animals into the shelter and perform appropriate intake functions including vaccinations and completing computer records. Clean and disinfect animals' quarters.
Observe animals to detect illnesses and injuries; notify supervisor accordingly. Perform all necessary animal handling safely and humanely. Assist in or perform as necessary the euthanasia of shelter animals. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
- Certification as Euthanasia Technician within one year of hire date.
- PREFERRED:
Ability to identify dog and cat breeds and various types of wildlife, including birds. - An understanding of and concern for all kinds of animals.
