PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

The Assistant Manager in Training will learn all aspects of the duties of an Assistant Manager by rotating between different school settings under the direction of a Supervisor and the Assistant Director. When competent, they will provide coverage when Assistant Managers and Managers are absent.

Education/Certification

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• PISD Asst. Manager Trainee Courses
• Current City of Houston Food Service Manager Certificate OR Serv Safe Certification
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in the school food service industry.

• Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
• Basic knowledge of math and money handling techniques.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Computer literate

• Understand and follow regulations of the National School Breakfast, Lunch, Summer Feeding, and Snack program guidelines.
• Operate computer, point of sale, and school food service software
• Demonstrate proper use and care of equipment.
• Participate in the preparation of attractive food using standardized recipes.
• Responsible for all aspects of breakfast production, service and paperwork.
• Assist the Manager:
  • Supervising kitchen staff during food preparation and service. Make sure all recipes are followed and portion sizes are correct, and offer vs. serve is implemented correctly.
  • Completion of accurate food production records
  • Accounting for all financial transactions connected with meal service in the cafeteria, including the bank deposit. Handle money according to district policy
  • Ordering, requisitioning and receiving of food and supplies
  • Maintaining organized storage areas, cooler and freezer
  • Counting (and entering) physical inventories of food, equipment and supplies
  • Reporting emergency repairs as needed to maintain the kitchen facility
  • Promote and monitor a safe work environment by following all departmental procedures
  • Follow and monitor Health Department and HACCP operating procedures for cleanliness and food safety, while completing associated paperwork.

  • Training of all kitchen employees
  • Substitute for Assistant Managers/Managers
  • Attend workshops and training for job skills development.
  • Arrive on time and practice good attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

• Stand and walk on hard surface floor unassisted, continually, for at least three hours.

• Push and pull carts.
• Stoop, bend, kneel, and climb.
• Lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to load and unload products at a maximum height of 67 inches.
• Climb a 6 foot ladder.

Moderate to heavy exposure to hold/cold temperatures, steam, wet floors and cleaning chemicals. The Pasadena ISD is a tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free workplace.
