Heavy Duty Mechanic – RL Siteworx Position Summary
The Heavy‑Duty Mechanic at RL Siteworx is responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and haul trucks to ensure maximum uptime and reliability. This role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics, along with a commitment to precision and safety. Working both in the shop and in the field, the mechanic plays a critical role in keeping operations on schedule and minimizing costly downtime.
By executing preventative maintenance, accurate repairs, and clear communication, this position directly supports RL Siteworx’s mission to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Objectives- Maximize Equipment Uptime – Perform timely repairs and maintenance to keep all equipment and haul trucks operational with minimal downtime.
- Execute Preventive Maintenance – Develop and adhere to a structured service schedule (250hr, 500hr, 1000hr intervals, etc.) to prevent unexpected failures.
- Accurately Diagnose Issues – Use diagnostic tools and expertise to quickly identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
- Perform Quality Repairs – Complete repairs to OEM standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and long‑term equipment performance.
- Maintain Safety Standards – Follow OSHA and company safety protocols during all repairs and field work.
- Field Repair Response – Provide prompt, effective on‑site troubleshooting and repairs to minimize jobsite interruptions.
- Maintain Accurate Records – Document inspections, services, repairs, and parts usage in Tenna (or company system) for compliance and tracking.
- Control Repair Costs – Identify and implement cost‑effective solutions for parts, repairs, and maintenance without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with Team – Communicate clearly with operators, dispatch, supervisors, and fellow mechanics to coordinate work effectively.
- Support DOT/Compliance – Ensure trucks and equipment meet DOT and environmental standards at all times.
- Welding & Fabrication – Safely perform welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed to complete repairs or modifications.
- Tool & Equipment Care – Properly use, maintain, and secure tools, service trucks, and diagnostic equipment.
- Parts Management – Assist with ordering, organizing, and verifying parts needed for repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Continuous Improvement – Stay current with new technology, equipment updates, and certifications to improve diagnostic and repair capabilities.
- Support Company Mission – Ensure reliability of equipment fleet to keep RL Siteworx projects running on time, on budget, and with less stress.
- Comprehensive Technical Knowledge of Heavy Equipment & Trucks
- In‑depth ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical systems across mixed fleets (excavators, dozers, loaders, haul trucks).
- Directly supports uptime, accurate diagnostics, and reducing vendor repairs.
- Proficiency with Diagnostic Tools & Software—Skilled in using scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and OEM diagnostic systems.
- Welding, Cutting & Fabrication Competency—Capable of fabricating and repairing components in‑house safely and effectively.
