We’re building tomorrow’s fleet today. For nearly 85 years we’ve designed, built, and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. We’re simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface navy fleet.
The RoleDesigns components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer‑aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM, or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
MustHave
- Associate’s degree or other 2‑year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience (combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree).
- Prior knowledge of Planning Yard processes and procedures and how this organization functions.
- Full understanding of Planning Yard Naval Design (Structure, Foundations, and Outfitting).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 2‑D Design.
- Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of employment.
