Position OverviewThe Registered Radiological (X‑Ray) Technologist performs activities of the radiology technologist at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail, and assumes responsibilities for designated areas or procedures as directed by the Director of Radiology or Assistant Director of Radiology. The technologist is responsible for securing radiology studies ordered to assist physicians in diagnosing patients, careful handling of equipment and supplies, operating equipment properly, and reporting equipment maintenance needs for the assigned area.
The position requires attention to detail for extended periods of time, working under general supervision following established radiology policies and procedures, and demonstrating appropriate clinical judgement and professional skills with patients of all ages. Poor film quality may have serious consequences for patients; the technologist must be willing to work with that reality.
Secure, perform, and confirm radiology studies as ordered; handle equipment and supplies with care; operate equipment properly; report maintenance and equipment needs; maintain clinical judgement and professional skills; work under general supervision; adhere to established policies and procedures.

EducationGraduation from a two‑year approved School of X‑ray Technology. College work desired but not required.
LicenseMust be registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
CertificationsBCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer; de‑escalation training completed by the end of orientation (90 days) and ongoing appropriate level of de‑escalation training.
ExperiencePrior experience is desired but not required. Must be interested in self‑development and maintain a minimum of 24 ECE points every two years as required by the ARRT.

Physical DemandsModerately active: requires sitting, frequent movement in the office and facility, and traveling to other facilities within the SRHS service area. Requires negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues is possible.
Mental DemandsMust demonstrate keen mental faculties, decision‑making abilities, excellent communication skills, emotional stability, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, and the ability to multi‑task in complex situations. Must maintain collaborative working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
Special DemandsSuperior customer service skills and professional etiquette; proficiency in computer use (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word), telephone, fax and other office technology.
