Surgical Technologist

Full-Time | Friday - Sunday, 3pm with call 7am-7am | Pascagoula Hospital | Mississippi | United States

The primary function of the Surgical Technologist is as a 'scrub technologist' in the surgical suite and other clinical areas. Under the guidance of the physician and registered nurse, the technologist implements AST Standards for safe patient care. They possess strong interpersonal skills and a surgical conscience, preparing the room before surgery and managing all items required for the surgical table, including instrumentation and sutures.

High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required.

Current Surgical Technologist Certification preferred. Must complete BCLS certification by the end of position orientation and maintain current BCLS certification.

Prior experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

OR Lead Coordinator and Patient Care Manager.

Work involves many physical motions, including standing, moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and handling of supplies, equipment, and patients. It requires moderate activity and safe lifting practices. Exposure to body fluids and repetitive motions affecting the wrists and hands. Requires vision and audio acuity, tolerance for extended periods, and shift flexibility.

Demonstrate keen mental faculties, decision making, superior communication, written and verbal skills, emotional stability, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail, multitasking, and collaborative relationships across SRHS.

Superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, computer proficiency (MS Outlook, Word, keyboard). Clinical judgment based on approved scope, knowledge of AST process standards. Valid driver’s license required for traveling within SRHS service area.
