The Environmental Services OR Aide maintains environmental and infection control standards within the established policies and procedures of the Health System for the Operating Room and Labor & Delivery. They perform a variety of general cleaning and linen tasks within the Operating / Labor & Delivery Rooms to maintain the rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas. The Aide performs Terminal Cleaning on each operating room when assigned.

When assigned, they also perform tasks outside the Operating / Labor & Delivery Room such as patient room cleaning. They restock linen carts and assemble linen packs for Surgical Services and Outpatient Surgery.

• Maintain environmental and infection control standards in Operating Room and Labor & Delivery as per policy.
• Perform general cleaning and linen tasks in Operating and Labor & Delivery areas.
• Conduct Terminal Cleaning of operating rooms as assigned.
• Perform patient room cleaning and other duties outside the OR/LD as assigned.
• Restock linen carts and assemble linen packs for Surgical Services and Outpatient Surgery.

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

• Six (6) months housekeeping experience working in a healthcare facility preferred.

Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk extensively without undue fatigue. Must be able to handle objects and tools; regularly moves or lifts up to 25 lbs. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation, chemical products, and hazardous/infectious waste. Must be able to perceive sounds at normal levels, communicate effectively, and meet visual requirements (close/distance/color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).

Color perception is required to read measurements and distinguish waste containers indicating hazardous waste.

Must demonstrate strong assessment and decision-making abilities, superior communication skills (verbal and written), emotional stability for high-stress situations, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Must possess excellent customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must be computer literate (keyboard proficient) and familiar with MS Outlook and other office technology as required.
