Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) | Part Time | Wound Care at Singing River Health System – Pascagoula Hospital.

Position overview:

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. The RN provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within applicable statutes, standards of practice, codes of ethics, and accreditation guidelines. This description reflects current job expectations and may be revised by management.

• Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and related standards.
• Complete and maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional development as applicable to the specialty areas.
• Participate in de-escalation training and apply appropriate clinical judgment within the scope of practice.
• Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians as assigned.

Graduate from NLN School of Nursing.

Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.

• All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
• Specialty area certifications as listed (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP) depending on assignment:
• Cath Lab – ACLS;
  Cardiac Rehab – ACLS;
  Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS;
  Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS
• Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC;
  Endoscopy – ACLS, PALS; ICUs – ACLS
• Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP;
  Medical Nursing – OB/GYN - PALS;
  Nursery – NRP;
  Pediatrics – PALS
• PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS

RNs have 12 months from the date they begin working in a specialty area to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to acquire TNCC (for the Emergency Department).

A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program.

Patient Care Manager.

LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians.

Work is moderately active; requires movement around the facility and potential travel within SRHS service area. Physical effort includes lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and exposure to body fluids. Requires good vision, fine motor ability, and the capacity to be active for extended periods.

Requires keen decision making, strong communication skills, emotional stability, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must maintain attention to detail and multi-task in complex situations and maintain collaborative relationships.

Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficient computer skills (keyboard), MS Outlook and Word, and ability to apply clinical judgment across patient populations.
