OverviewThe Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The LPN provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services.
All duties are performed in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation standards, and governing guidance for health care employees.
- Provide skilled nursing care per plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
- Perform duties in accordance with MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Infection Control Guidelines, and institutional policies.
- Assume other duties as assigned as part of patient care requirements.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing.
- License: Current Mississippi practical nurse license as an LPN required; expanded role licensure preferred.
- Certification: BCLS certification required and maintained.
- Experience: A minimum of six (6) months inpatient clinical experience or skilled nursing facility experience as an LPN or Nurse Assistant required. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform transfers, lifts, and other physical activities; able to manage equipment and invasive lines; may be exposed to communicable disease or radiation.
- Mental Demands: Strong assessment and decision-making skills; effective communication; ability to work under pressure and maintain emotional stability in high-stress situations.
- Special Demands: Demonstrated competency in psychomotor skills, patient population care, and use of electronic medical records; operate within lines of authority to resolve issues and seek direction as needed.
