Ingalls Shipbuilding – First‑Class Pipefitter (Journeyman Pipefitter)

We are looking for a skilled First‑Class Pipefitter to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. The position is full‑time, with multiple daily shifts and the opportunity to work on the construction of amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

As a First‑Class Pipefitter, you will fit, install, and maintain pipe systems made of steel, galvanized, copper, copper‑nickel, and stainless steel, along with appropriate valves and fittings. You will work at different heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions, with the expectation that you may be called to work day or night depending on ship construction schedules.

  • Fit pipe systems in accordance with drawings, blueprints, metric and standard measurements.
  • Interpret trade drawings and blueprints to locate, fabricate, and install pipe, flanges, and valves.
  • Work safely in all situations, following industry standard safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with other trades to ensure quality and safety.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of trade experience.
  • Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Knowledge of layout, fit‑up, fabrication, and installation of pipe, flanges, and valves.
  • Read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of datum lines.
  • Familiarity with fit‑up, alignment tolerances, and advanced blueprint reading skills.
