Assistant Professor of English

OverviewWe are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic individual with a strong record of teaching first‑year composition courses. The successful candidate will also be capable of teaching additional departmental/divisional courses such as technical writing, professional writing, or writing for health professionals. Experience teaching in a supplemental instruction model and/or Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I‑BEST) or comparable programs that support diverse learner populations is preferred.
Responsibilities- Teach first‑year composition courses and other writing courses as required.
- Implement innovative, inclusive, and culturally responsive teaching strategies.
- Provide support for diverse learners through supplemental instruction models.
- Collaborate with colleagues and serve the college community.
- Advanced degree in English or a related field; joint appointments are encouraged.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching composition and other writing courses.
- Experience with I‑BEST or similar programs preferred.
- Strong communication skills across cultures.
Salary range: $80,024.00 – $84,074.00 for a 176‑day contract over the instructional year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for teaching support work.
