PUBLIC - DEA Criminal Investigators

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug‑related activities.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports and deliver briefings to senior personnel and federal, state, and local agencies.
• Identify, apprehend, and arrest drug traffickers and individuals engaged in criminal drug activities.
• Gather and analyze evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means.
• Testify on behalf of the Federal government in court or before grand juries.

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GL/GS‑05 level, or higher‑level experience for GL/GS‑07, GL/GS‑09, and GL/GS‑11 levels.
• Experience in investigations of alleged or suspected violations of law, collection and analysis of data, and writing investigative reports.
• Knowledge of federal criminal investigative operations, operational planning, undercover operations, and evidence presentation to prosecution officials.
• Strong oral and written communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.
• Must sign a mobility agreement and be willing to relocate to any DEA facility.
• Pre‑employment medical clearance, polygraph, and random drug testing required.
• Minimum age 21; maximum age 36 unless veteran or former Federal civilian law enforcement retiree eligibility applies.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
