The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides advanced, specialized mental health care by integrating the clinical responsibilities of an Advanced Practice Provider with those traditionally performed by a physician. This role operates under collaboratively established medical protocols and within the scope approved by the Washington State licensing board.

Advanced Practitioner (ARNP/PA-C) salary range: $130,000 - $160,000 (potential for RVU Incentive Bonus) with ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct psychiatric and behavioral health care to patients.
  • Provide psychiatric primary, acute, and chronic mental‑health care, including crisis intervention, to help patients achieve and maintain optimal psychological well‑being.
  • Conduct mental‑health assessments, psychiatric diagnoses, and evidence‑based treatments for commonly occurring psychiatric conditions and behavioral health concerns.
  • Assume accountability to the Preceptor for the screening, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and follow‑up care of psychiatric patients.
  • Take responsibility for the clinical management of psychiatric cases that fall within the established scope of practice and approved treatment protocols.
  • Provide behavioral health services in satellite clinics, when assigned, ensuring continuity of psychiatric care across locations.
  • As assigned, conduct specialty mental‑health clinics or group visits within the clinic or community, such as depression/anxiety management groups, behavioral‑health education sessions, or
  • Provide behavioral‑health support to perinatal patients as needed, including screening for perinatal mood disorders and coordinating care according to CBHA perinatal mental‑health protocols.
  • Participate as a peer member of the healthcare team in planning, developing, and implementing mental‑health programs and integrative behavioral‑health initiatives.
  • Perform other psychiatric and behavioral‑health related duties as assigned.
  • Promote a positive work culture and uphold clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE standards of behavior, while fostering a supportive and trauma‑informed behavioral‑health environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all CBHA activities, reports, financial information, and patient mental‑health records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and behavioral‑health privacy standards.
Qualifications

Professional and Technical Knowledge:

Preference will be given to prior successful experience in a family practice clinical setting.

License and Certification:

  • Current and unrestricted license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in the state of Washington with a specialization in psychiatric/mental health
  • Board certified as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC)
  • DEA registration and prescriptive authority in Washington State
  • Experience providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic interventions to diverse populations
  • Must not be sanctioned or excluded from participation in federal or state healthcare programs

Technical

Skills:

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite to create simple displays of information.
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of Electronic Medical Record Software.

Communication

Skills:

  • Responsible for effectively communicating clinical information to non‑clinical staff, patients and others.
  • Ability to provide effective communication of information in written (including electronic) correspondence in both formal and informal environments.
