Description

The HR Specialist performs various duties related to recruitment, onboarding, and performance management. The Specialist manages job postings, screens employment applications, documents applicant eligibility and qualifications, identifies qualified candidates for further consideration, conducts reference checks, assists with testing, recruiting, and orienting new employees, and supports district recruitment processes.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Location: Pasco, WA

Wage: $33.00 - $44.55

Requirements

Minimum Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field and three years of HR experience OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the candidate with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.

Preferred Work Experience

Experience in a union environment preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely to express ideas and recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient knowledge of state and federal benefits programs, including workers’ compensation, unemployment, and state and federal leave programs.
  • General skills in Microsoft Office suite and ability to develop proficiency in enterprise software.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to identify organize and prioritize several ongoing and frequently changing assignments to meet deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with full-cycle talent acquisition including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and offer letters. Conducts new hire orientations and ensures smooth onboarding process.
  • Screens employment applications, documents qualifications, and recommends qualified candidates to hiring officials. Tracks, collects, and files completed interview and other hiring materials.
  • Advises hiring managers on selection and hiring procedures, provides guidelines and direction to document the interview and selection process, coordinates with hiring managers to review and access applications. Conducts reference checks and assists in offering employment to selected candidates as requested. Notifies non-selected candidates.
  • Maintains and updates employee records in HR systems and ensures data accuracy. Generate HR reports and analytics to support business decisions.
  • Handles general employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Manages talent performance through employee development and training programs. Manages annual review processes.
  • Facilitates internal transfer processes for staff to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and procedures.
  • Provides various support for recruitment activity through job fairs and recruiting events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
