Principle Infrastructure & Resiliency Consultant — Part-Time

Type: Part-time engagement; initially approximately 8–12 hours per week

Location: Remote, with availability for customer workshops;
Northern Virginia/DC-area proximity helpful

Prudent seeks an experienced infrastructure professional who has personally operated, supported, or held technical responsibility for enterprise on-premises environments.

You will help customers understand their infrastructure, assess resilience and recovery capabilities, and evaluate where retaining, improving, or extending systems into cloud makes sense. The role supports our infrastructure advisory, Power Resiliency as a Service, and cloud assessment engagements.

• Lead discussions with customer infrastructure teams and application owners.
• Interpret server inventories, virtualization exports, utilization reports, storage data, backup reports, and architecture documentation.
• Lead the development of software applications, data-analysis tools, automation frameworks, and reporting platforms used to evaluate infrastructure, disaster recovery, and resiliency capabilities.
• Reconcile physical hosts, virtual machines, applications, dependencies, and capacity requirements.
• Assess availability, redundancy, backup, replication, recovery sequencing, and disaster-recovery testing.
• Identify operational risks, capacity constraints, unsupported assumptions, and missing evidence.
• Recommend improvements and assess workloads for on-premises retention, cloud-based protection, migration, modernization, or hybrid deployment.
• Develop assessment findings, recovery requirements, pilot plans, and technical inputs to business cases.
• Coordinate with cloud and electrical specialists and review junior staff’s engagement outputs.

• Direct responsibility for operating or supporting production on-premises infrastructure.
• Broad understanding of virtualization, servers, storage, networking, identity, and backups.
• Ability to interpret VMware/vCenter, RVTools, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or comparable inventory and performance reports.
• Practical involvement in infrastructure resilience, recovery testing, incident recovery, or disaster-recovery planning.
• Ability to distinguish successful backups from demonstrated application recoverability.
• Strong customer communication, documentation, and independent problem-solving skills.

• Using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for infrastructure, recovery, migration, or hybrid connectivity.
• Infrastructure assessments, consolidation, data-center refreshes, or migration planning.
• Backup and recovery platforms such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, Zerto, or comparable tools.
• Infrastructure cost analysis, automation, monitoring, or workload optimization.
• Critical facilities, batch/GPU workloads, or coordination with facilities teams.

The initial role focuses on assessment, recommendations, and technical oversight. Implementation is separately scoped. Electrical design approval and continuous on-call support are outside this role.
