Here’s how you will support our mission
The Director for Security, Risk & Emergency Management provides leadership, administrative direction, and oversight for public safety operations, risk management, and emergency planning at Columbia Basin College. This position plays a key role in fostering a safe and secure environment by directing campus security services, leading emergency preparedness initiatives, and ensuring institutional compliance with applicable regulations. The Director actively supports and engages in CBC's values of student learning, culture of excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainability, and well-being.
This role involves strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to safeguard people, assets, and resources across the College.
This position reports to the Vice President for Administrative Services.
The salary range for this position is $97,678-$107,971.

Primary Responsibilities- Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the Security and Emergency Management department, ensuring high-quality service delivery;
- Lead the college's emergency preparedness efforts, including planning, training, and coordinating an emergency advisory group;
- Serve as liaison to law enforcement, fire, and emergency management agencies and advise college leadership on safety and preparedness;
- Direct the development and implementation of safety training programs, emergency exercises, and response coordination;
- Lead internal and external communications related to security, risk, and emergency management in collaboration with Public Relations;
- Oversee campus security operations, including physical security systems, patrol scheduling, and access control protocols;
- Ensure institutional compliance with the Clery Act, VAWA, and other regulatory mandates; coordinate with Title IX and legal counsel as needed;
- Conduct annual risk assessments and lead the development of risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans;
- Manage departmental budget development, authorize expenditures, and ensure proper allocation and use of financial resources;
- Supervise and develop department personnel, including performance management, staffing decisions, and policy implementation;
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, law enforcement, business administration, public administration, or related field from an institutionally accredited college or university;
