- Receive repair order assignments from Service Manager/Foreman.
- Perform work directed in repair orders in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintain superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
- Advise Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by customer.
- Determine if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to customer and communicate such recommendations to the Shop Lead or Service Writer.
- Maintain a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment; attend training sessions as required.
- Perform additional repairs required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of technician’s faulty workmanship.
- Maintain accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked on job.
- Follow all Warranty Vendor guidelines while keeping service desk informed.
- Accept and represent company department in all directed after‑hours call‑out situations.
- Keep work area functional and clean.
- Foster a positive and cohesive work environment.
- Aid and train apprentice technicians as directed by Service Manager or Foreman.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of experience as a heavy‑duty truck repair technician with emphasis on engine repair.
- Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods and ability to operate power and hand tools safely.
- Working knowledge of P/C and Laptop Computers.
- Excellent communication and managerial skills.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred with a good driving record.
- Professional personal appearance.
This physically demanding position requires standing six to eight hours per shift; lifting parts up to 50 pounds; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and feeling. Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials is expected. The technician may need to climb in and out of customer vehicles for record‑keeping and road drives. A dealership uniform is required.
