As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey.

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with the California Veterinary Practice Act.
• Communicate with clients about scheduling, individualized pet health concerns, and benefits offered by being part of the Thrive Healthcare Pet network.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records in our PMS.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients to communicate to the veterinarians.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to learn from and support fellow team members.
• Thrive in a fast‑paced environment with excellent multitasking skills.

• 6 months or more as a veterinary assistant in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to perform safe restraint and venipuncture on dogs and cats.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, calle delegate medications and equipment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Compassionate and empathetic for others.
• Superior customer service – you must enjoy helping people as well as pets.
• Team‑driven: able to follow directions, support fellow team members, and collaborate to provide exceptional care for our patients.
• Ability to work weekends.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

North County Animal Hospital is a general practice located in Paso Robles focusing on primary and urgent care for dogs and cats. Our hospital has a wonderful team and a loyal client base.

We are open Monday through Saturday.

Serving Paso Robles, Atascadero, San Miguel, Heritage Ranch, Creston, Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo and King City communities.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience. Hourly pay rate starting at $19 per hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
