• Provide special education instruction to elementary and middle school students as aligned with IEP goals and objectives
• Collaborate with school leaders and staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program
• Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community
• Create a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility using positive motivation, clear routines, and effective classroom management
• Motivate and work in teams to achieve academic expectations
• Modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based on IEP goals and objectives
• Possess knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
• Demonstrate excellent classroom management

• Must have appropriate certification—New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
• Experience working with elementary students with special needs, primarily students with a diagnosis of autism or a pervasive development disorder
• Able to work collaboratively with school leaders and staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community
• Ability to provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines, and effective classroom management skills
• Knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards
• Excellent classroom management
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
