DOE Certification RequirementsAll coaches, including volunteer coaches, must have one of the two certifications:
- New Jersey Teacher's Certification
- New Jersey Instructional Substitute Credential (30 College Credits)
Proof of experience is required for Substitute Certificate holders. Coaching experience is preferred but not required.
Must be available daily during the winter sports season. All coaches must hold a current (valid) adult CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Certification.
Additional RequirementsAll new coaches (starting school year) must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course before their first employment as a coach. This course is a one-time requirement.
All coaches must complete the following courses, renewed annually:
- NFHS Concussion in Sports Course
- NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Course
All coaches must also complete the NFHS Implicit Bias Course and the BeNice Program, both of which are one-time requirements.

QualificationsThe Superintendent may consider alternatives to the above qualifications. Pending budget availability, all postings are open for ten (10) consecutive days following the date posted or until filled.
