Outpatient Physical Therapist, Pediatrics

Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands Corporation, Part‑time, 20‑24 hours per week. Spaulding Pawtucket Clinic – Outpatient Pediatrics.

Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restore patient physical function by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results, determining treatment goals and plans, administering manual exercises, instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing activities and using assistive and supportive devices. This position is pediatric focused and works with the interdisciplinary pediatric rehab team to help patients meet their goals.

• Evaluate the effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Perform patient assessment and establish a plan of care.
• Provide in‑service education programs to personnel as needed.
• Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for re‑evaluation.
• Discuss evaluation, goals, and treatment with both patient and family.
• Participate in system‑wide quality process improvement.
• Supervise PTAs as needed according to organization policy and state regulations.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy required, Master’s Degree preferred, Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.

• Physical Therapist (Rhode Island License) – required
• Basic Life Support – required
• Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License (State) – preferred

Experience completing an internship or apprenticeship program of 1‑2 years preferred.

• Effective written communication with appropriate audiences.
• Teaching others how to perform tasks.
• Excellent problem‑solving, case management, and communication skills.
