Looking to strengthen our engineering leadership team, Boschung Mecatronic AG is looking for an experienced and hands‑on Head of Hardware R&D who combines deep technical expertise with strong engineering leadership and an innovation‑driven mindset. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who combines technical depth, innovation, and execution capability to drive the continuous evolution of our hardware technologies. In this strategic role, you will take full responsibility for the Hardware R&D team and lead the development of robust, innovative, and market‑oriented technologies from concept through industrialization.

Working closely with software, product management, and industrialization teams, you will play a central role in shaping the next generation of Boschung’s intelligent infrastructure systems through technical vision, hands‑on problem‑solving, and continuous innovation.

• Lead the Hardware R&D team and oversee technical development projects.
• Drive innovation within the Hardware R&D department by actively proposing and developing new technical concepts, architectures, and product ideas.
• Identify future technology opportunities and translate emerging engineering trends into practical product developments.
• Define and drive the hardware technology roadmap in alignment with product and business objectives.
• Act as a technical driving force within the organization, bringing vision, initiative, and strong engineering leadership to future developments.
• Organize and plan team activities including project priorities, technical resources, budgets, and timelines.
• Oversee product development from concept and prototyping through validation and industrialization.
• Ensure robustness, reliability, manufacturability, and long‑term field performance of products.
• Make key technical decisions regarding system architecture, component selection, and engineering approaches.
• Strengthen collaboration between Hardware, Software, Product Management, and Industrialization teams.
• Contribute directly to invention, prototyping, and technical problem‑solving with a hands‑on and solution‑oriented mindset.

• Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related technical field from a top‑tier institution such as ETH Zürich, EPFL, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, with experience leading technical developments and driving engineering projects in a hands‑on environment.
• Fluent in French or German with good knowledge of the other language; full professional proficiency in English.
• Strong background in electronics, embedded systems, physics, or hardware product development.
• Proven experience developing real‑world hardware products from concept and design through industrialization.
