Position SummaryThe Southern Extension District is seeking to hire a tenure track Assistant or a tenure track or tenured Associate Professor Educator. The Extension Educator for Payette County will lead outreach programs (80%), divided among small farms (30%), horticulture (40%), and 4‑H youth development (10%). The position also includes applied research and scholarly work (5%), as well as university service and leadership responsibilities, including serving as County Chair (15%).
The educator will collaborate with county commissioners, partners, and community organizations to ensure programs meet local needs and align with University of Idaho Extension priorities and the annual plan of work.
Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws. A stipend will be provided for serving as County Chair.
Minimum Education /Degree RequiredListed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, or closely related to the domain of the position.
- Experience providing organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups
- Experience in adapting research materials for oral and written presentations
- Experience recruiting, teaching, organizing, and managing groups
- Experience using technology for program delivery, reporting, and team‑based communications
- Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, and marketing for programs
- Previous experience working in Extension
- Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets
- Experience with supervising, leading, and mentoring others
- Be able to lift, carry and/or otherwise move at least 50 pounds.
- Able to work nonstandard business hours, including nights and weekends.
