At the Arizona Department of Child Safety (“DCS”), we protect children, reunify families, ensure safe living environments, and prevent unnecessary trauma. As an Assistant Case Manager – Visitation, you will safely escort or transport clients to DCS visitation meetings and document observations.
Responsibilities- Supervise visitation meetings among clients (parents and children)
- Enter case notes into the computer‑based Case Management System
- Drive on state business to transport children to appointments and related activities
- Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment
- Work alternative hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays as required
- Knowledge of computers and software (Microsoft Office Suite), mobile devices, digital calendars (Outlook) and video conferencing (Microsoft Teams)
- Skill in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; general clerical functions such as data entry; verbal and written communication; eliciting information; modeling professional behavior with clients; time management and multi‑tasking; observation
- Ability to gain knowledge of human and social services; understand and adhere to related State, Federal and local laws and DCS policies; comply with casework principles; comprehend moderate written and oral instructions; organize data logically; prepare accurate reports; actively listen and support clients; acquire and renew CPR certification
- Some college experience with credit hours in child development, rehabilitation, counseling, psychology, social services, sociology or related field
- One year experience in a child welfare environment or indirect experience working with clients or experience working with children in a controlled environment (e.g., nanny, daycare, teacher’s aide)
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Arizona issued driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Pass a background investigation and DCS Central Registry check
- Maintain an acceptable driving record; complete required driver training as applicable to state business driving
- Complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify)

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility becomes effective after 27 weeks of state employment.
