Zoning and Building Inspector at Gila County

The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with building and zoning adopted codes and ordinances. This position inspects for zoning violations and ensures various aspects of building construction are in accordance with approved building plans and codes.

• Perform field inspections and structural reviews of commercial and residential projects to ensure building projects are being built in accordance with approved building plans/specifications and in compliance with building codes, zoning and wastewater ordinances; conduct inspections to include structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and compliance with requirements by other agencies.
• Note deficiencies and deviations from plans; refer serious problems and disagreements in interpretation to County Building Official.
• Prepare inspection reports and documentation; obtain photographic evidence in relation to zoning violations.
• Conduct zoning inspections and investigate complaints of zoning violations; provide related information to property/business owners and the general public and present evidence at code enforcement hearings.
• Conduct building/zoning research and review documents from engineers, designers, code officials, and product manufacturers.
• Provide customer service regarding design criteria, structural calculations, building code and zoning ordinance questions; provide technical advice and assistance to designers, architects, engineers, contractors and owner/builders on code compliance and engineering problems; answer questions regarding zoning and building procedures; provide assistance with interpreting blueprints.
