FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
What is an Occupancy Verification? A periodic property inspection used by mortgage lenders to verify that a property is occupied and determine its general condition.

Responsibilities- Most inspections take 5-6 minutes.
- Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile app.
- Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops in the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you pay your own gas)
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
- Printer
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and urban/rural mix, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month-to-monthn
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
