Library Aide, Peabody Institute Library (Peabody)
Schedule:
Part-time hours (averages 14 hours/week) or 28 hours total in a 2 week pay period.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Senior Librarians, the Library Aide provides customer service to patrons in 3 busy Public Library locations. Duties include circulation and basic information services, computer and technology help, shelving materials, processing interlibrary loans, programming support and other clerical and organizational tasks to support the mission of the Peabody Institute Library. This is a part-time position averaging 14 hours per week, including one weekly evening shift per week, two weekly day time shifts 9-1pm or 1-5pm, one shift every other Saturday 9-1pm or 1-5pm, and a seasonal (non-summer) Sunday rotation 1-5pm for time and a half (approximately every fifth Sunday).
This position will be regularly scheduled at all 3 Library locations during each week. Possible additional evening & weekend shift coverage may be necessary.
Ideal candidates will possess outstanding customer service and organizational skills and be familiar with computers, Microsoft Office and general technology. Ideal candidates will be comfortable offering computer and technology help to patrons. Vision must be sufficient to meet job obligations and hearing must be sufficient for accuracy in phone communication and customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
