Job Description
Direct Service Specialist positions available in Shore's Adult Services Programin Peabody
.
You will directly work with a warm, interesting, and fun-loving group of individuals with developmental disabilities in an active day services setting. You'll lead and help individuals to participate in activities that center around building life, social, community, and therapeutic skills that meet their personal goals. Individuals have a broad range of abilities and some need staff assistance for dining and personal care activities, others for developing coping and self-expression strategies.
Our programs operate during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, withno on-call, night , or weekend obligations. If you're just out of school or have never worked in human services , this rewarding job may be the first step in your new career. Ideal candidates are dependable , like working with people, and have the energy to commit to a meaningful job. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Driver's license preferred. Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to assist people with physical disabilities in daily living activities and to participate in the training and implementation, if necessary, of behavior support interventions.
This position pays $20 to $23, based on experience, and includes paid time off, great benefits, and participation in the Massachusetts State Retirement System's pension plan.

All adult program staff who may be expected to manage behavior must obtain and maintain certification in Shore's approved behavioral safety training program (Safety Care or equivalent). These skills are essential to ensuring the safety of all program participants and staff, and to meet state and federal requirements related to the safe implementation of behavior intervention plans.
