Licensed Practical Nurse - Renal Dialysis

We have an exciting opportunity in our program for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Alberta Kidney Care – North program. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the LPN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The LPN provides patient and family centered care to acute and chronic renal failure patient populations. The LPN will practice within the guidelines and philosophy of the AKC. You will be encouraged and expected to work at your full scope of practice and provide a variety of nursing duties in accordance with current policies and nursing care standards.

This position is located at the Peace River Satellite Hemodialysis  addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.

Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.

Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and decision‑making abilities.

Must have Physical Assessment, IV Therapy and Medication Administration course.

Must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg).Proof of successful completion of the CLPNA Administering Blood or Blood Products module is required if you were a graduate prior to June 2022.Basic computer skills required.

The AKC–N program requires candidates to complete/pass Hemodialysis Training.

Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educator's discretion.
