Staff Consultant - Fire & Explosion – Infinity Systems Engineering

This position is responsible for conducting origin & cause investigations of fire and explosion incidents, including site inspection and documentation, evidence examination, research, analysis, testing and reporting. The role involves evaluation of mechanical systems, mechanical equipment, appliances, fuel gas systems, and testing of fuel‑gas systems. The candidate will conduct investigations, codes and standards reviews, design evaluations, document reviews, and justifications. The position also requires testimony in court proceedings and marketing of the company to develop and maintain the client base.

• Prepare and review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with project staff to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
• Perform field inspections of residential, commercial, transportation, and industrial structures and facilities to determine cause and origin of reported or suspected damages and conduct condition assessments.
• Conduct field and laboratory tests of fuel‑gas (primarily natural gas and propane) systems.
• Evaluate failure mechanisms of appliances, mechanical equipment, HVAC equipment, and related systems.
• Prepare technical, project‑related reports for clients and provide technical advice to resolve problems.
• Develop client presentations and technical conference presentations.
• Perform marketing and business development to identify potential clients and build client base.
• Testify in court proceedings (depositions and/or trials) on behalf of clients as required.

• Associate’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services.
• ASE Master Technician Certification.

• CFEI required.
• CVFI required.

• 2+ years’ work experience involving structure and vehicle fires.
• Expertise in fire and explosion investigation, natural gas or propane generation, distribution and use, mechanical and piping systems, vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Professional client interaction and business development.
• Clear oral and written communication.
• Availability to travel 50% of the time, including field/site inspections (33%).
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays as required.
